APECED is an autosomal – recessive syndrome defined by two of the following conditions: chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis (CMC), hypoparathyroidism (HP) or Addison disease (AD). Other autoimmune endocrine or non-endocrine conditions may be associated, like thyroiditis, celiac disease, alopecia and nail dystrophy.
